Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Tinghir
In the morning, depart from Marrakech, heading towards the High Atlas Mountains. You will cross the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, one of Morocco’s most scenic mountain roads, with panoramic views of valleys and Berber villages nestled into the landscape. Along the way, stop for photo opportunities and to experience local life.
The journey will bring you to Tinghir, a beautiful oasis town surrounded by date palms. Tinghir is known for its dramatic landscapes and proximity to the Todra Gorge. Upon arrival, check in at your accommodation and take time to relax or explore the town at your own pace. The day ends with a dinner at your riad or hotel, offering a taste of local Moroccan flavors.
Day 2: Tinghir – Todra Gorge – Merzouga (Sahara Desert)
After breakfast, begin your exploration of the Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s most famous natural wonders. This narrow canyon is flanked by towering cliffs that rise up to 300 meters, creating a dramatic setting perfect for a short walk or hike. The river that runs through the gorge adds to the allure, with vibrant green palm groves contrasting the rocky landscape.
From here, continue your journey to Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Along the way, pass through small Berber villages, with the vast expanse of desert becoming more visible. Upon arrival in Merzouga, you’ll switch to camels for a ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes.
As the sun begins to set, the dunes will glow in hues of orange and red. Reach your luxury desert camp, where you’ll be greeted with mint tea and traditional Berber music. Enjoy a delicious dinner beneath the stars, and spend the night in a comfortable tent, listening to the silence of the desert.
Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Agdz
Wake up early to witness the stunning Sahara sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast in the camp, ride your camel back to Merzouga village, where your journey continues. You will then drive toward Rissani, a town known for its bustling market, which is one of the most important in the region. Explore the souks and perhaps enjoy a traditional Berber snack, like dates or fresh bread.
Next, travel toward Agdz via the Draa Valley, a fertile region dotted with palm groves, kasbahs, and Berber villages. The Draa Valley is known for its ancient fortified dwellings and the iconic 16th-century Kasbah Taourirt, which is one of the most impressive sites in the region. Continue to Agdz, a charming town that offers a peaceful retreat after a long day of travel. Here, enjoy a dinner at your guesthouse or hotel, where you can unwind and enjoy the tranquility of the Draa Valley.
Day 4: Agdz – Ouarzazate – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
After breakfast, take some time to explore Agdz and its surroundings, including the peaceful palm groves and Berber villages. The area is rich in history and culture, providing an authentic insight into rural Moroccan life.
Your journey then continues toward Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert.” Stop to visit the Taourirt Kasbah or the famous Atlas Film Studios, where many blockbuster films, such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia, were shot. Afterward, cross the High Atlas Mountains once more, passing through scenic valleys and stopping for photos along the way.
You’ll reach Marrakech in the late afternoon, where the tour concludes. This is the perfect opportunity to explore the city further or simply relax before your next adventure.
